You will receive many coupons (I love them myself) and as your children get older and their needs change so do the coupons to reflect this.

Spend Less When You Shop Online!
Top Ten Ways To Save!
- Price matching - If you see an advertisement for a lower price, take it with you to prove a lower price elsewhere. For instance if you are buying pampers at Walmart and Zellers has them on for $8 cheaper, take the flyer in to Walmart and they will match Zellers flyer price. Some stores will even take the savings further and give an extra 10% of the difference in price.
- Scanning Code of Practice - If a product scans in at a higher price than what is being displayed in the store the item will be up to $10 off or free if the product is under $10. http://www.retailcouncil.org/advocacy/cp/issues/scanner_acc/print/scanner_accuracy02_eng.asp
- Coupons and Freebies - There are many wonderful coupon sites available to the Canadian public. Many of these sites will mail you their coupons free within a few days of ordering them. Some examples are http://www.save.ca http://www.brandsaver.ca/ Look for more coupon links throughout the blog.
- Reduce your bills! - Don't procrastinate...you will feel so good after you have made that phone call! Call your phone company, your cable company, your hydro supplier...you will be shocked at how easy it is to get a price reduction. Ask if they have any promotions going on...play companies against each other! Consolidate your loans and credit cards.
- Lower your credit card rate! - Although I do not carry a balance on my credit cards I can tell you that my highest interest rate is 5.9% for life with no fees. Do you know what your rate is? It is easy to get a rate reduction because the credit card companies want your business and they want you to be able to pay your bill.
- Plan - It has never been easier! With stores price matching you don't even have to burn extra gas. Just think if you take half of an hour to plan your meals for the week, write out your grocery list and price match...you may just save yourself $100. If you are throwing out food that has gone bad, you are not planning. Simply write out your groceries and the store name or initial beside the item with the sale price. Be sure to circle the item in your flyer and take it with you.
- Make a budget - We all know this can seem overwhelming but if you are realistic with your finances, you CAN do this. Here is a simple budget program that I use to keep my spending under control. https://www.pearbudget.com/
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - And I'm not talking about your plastics people. My daughters clothes are 90% used and no one would ever know the difference! I shop at upscale used clothing stores. Yes there is such a thing! I never pay more than $5 for an outfit and they are all adorable hardly used brand name items. I also use sites such as kijiji and craigslist to purchase furniture, toys, recreational items etc. I once purchased 10 Lamazee toys for $2 each (reg price $20 each +tax) They were like new and I just tossed them in the washing machine. I paid $80 for my brand new dishwasher because an elderly couple who moved into a home wanted stainless steel instead. Selling your old junk that is cluttering up your basement can also be a great way to make extra money for Christmas or that vacation you always wanted to take. Ladies, host a Swap Party! A swap party is where everyone brings in items they want to swap with friends for other items like accessories and clothes. Don't you remember in high school when her jeans always fit you better than your own :)
- Haggle - Prices are rarely firm and there are deals to be had. I saved $11,000 on my van after spending a week of haggling with the Honda dealerships in my city.
- Free Community events or programs - There are many free programs out there for your children. If you can't afford to put your child in hockey or skating because of the high cost try something like Cadets. It is free in Canada and your child will be introduced to new friends, skills training, National and International Travel, sailing, flying and the list goes on and on. Most communities also have a calendar of events.
